Electric Underfloor Heating Mat 150w/m2

Underfloor Heating Mat 150w/m2 can be installed beneath most floor types (not just Tiles). They are suitable to be used as a secondary or primary heat source under Tiles, LVT, Karndean or low tog Carpet. We offer a wide range of mat sizes and loose wire cables. Our largest 150w mat is available at 16sqm, which is supplied as a continuous mat – 0.5m in width x 32m in length – The largest heat mat in the UK. Uniquely, both our R-Mats and R-Cables, are patented with a dual Teflon coating (approx. 2mm in thickness), the strongest and most advanced low profile heating element available. They also have an IPX7 Waterproof rating, making them safe for any room.

Installation

The heat mats can be laid directly onto a solid wood or concrete subfloor. It is highly recommended insulation be installed, prior to the under floor heating to aid efficiency and the response of the heating kit. Although both our 150w and 200w can usually heat a room and floor on their own, insulation is an integral part of the complete underfloor kit. The thermal boards drastically reduce running costs and the warm-up time of the heating. For new builds, extensions or old problematic floors, we also offer a range of decoupling membranes, preventing possible lateral movement of the floor. The XPS, Tile backer thermal boards and final floor tiles, should be fixed with a flexible adhesive. We can even supply a two-part specialist self-levelling compound, the choice of the professional, which is used to embed the heating before the flooring is laid. A 3mm depth of self-level or adhesive is required to embed the heating, before Tiling. The R-Mats and R-Cabs, can also be laid under LVT, Karndean or low tog carpet (maximum 2 togs), when embedded in a 10-12mm depth of self-levelling compound.

150W vs 200W Underfloor Heating Mats – What is a better option for you?

The key difference between 150w and 200w electric heating is the warm-up time. Essentially, the 200w mats or loose wire cables will reach the set temperature more quickly. Therefore, serving better as a primary heat source than the lower-wattage option. It is the recommendation in high heat loss areas like outhouses, conservatories or external colder rooms. The 200w option should always be used if no insulation can be installed, caused of height restrictions or floor thresholds. The 150w option can still be used as a primary or sole source of heating, as long as over 80% of the available floor is covered. It is vitally important that insulation is installed when opting for the lower wattage, to aid the efficiency and response, as well as increasing the U values and thermal retention in the room. Importantly, 20sqm of 150w heating can be powered off a 13amp / 240v fuse supply. This option tends to be a better solution in larger areas when the heating is being retrofitted (walls already plastered/rendered) with electrical supplies set in place. The 200w option, would either be separated into 2 zones (powered from 2 thermostats), or alternatively powered off a 25amp or 40amp relay.
