200w/m2 Loose Wire Underfloor Heating Cable Kits
The 200w/m
2 loose wire underfloor heating cable option, is the perfect solution when looking to use electric heating as a primary/sole source of heating. The choice of professional installers for under Tiles or Natural Stone, can also be installed under any floor, when embedded in a
latex/self-leveling compound. At only
2mm thickness, it is the lowest profile heating element on the market. The perfect option, when looking to achieve the wall to wall heat coverage, especially suitable for small WCs, Bathrooms, or Wet Rooms.
The wire is rated at 12w per linear metre and will provide 200w per sqm when spaced 60mm apart. As an example, our wire is 200m long
(the largest loose cable in the UK).
This wire would cover 12sqm(at 60mm spacings/200w per sqm). On larger rooms/zones, multiple thermostats or a
25amp or
40amp relay may be required
(dependent on electrical load/heated area).
Installation
The loose wires can be laid directly onto a stable wood, concrete, or screed sub-floor. To drastically increase the efficiency and the response of your heating, we recommend either a
cement coated tile backer board, or an
XPS board to be installed under the heating.
The use of insulation is especially important over subfloors without inbuilt insulation / older properties as they will minimise any heat loss downwards. The heating should then be embedded with either a self-levelling compound or flexible tile adhesive before your final floor covering is laid.
Electric Vs Water – What is the difference?
The common misconception is that electric underfloor heating is far more expensive to buy and run than its water/gas counterparts. In truth, electric heating can be very efficient, when controlled correctly from the thermostat controller. Unlike water-based heating which is predominantly regulated off an air sensor, electric heating should always be controlled off a floor sensor. This enables the heating to be far more efficient and responsive as a heating system and far quicker at heating the room or floor, as opposed to underfloor water pipes or radiators.
Because electric underfloor heating heats from the floor to 6 feet up, there are no wasted energy costs in heating the ceiling, which is always the case in regards to heat being supplied from radiators. Of course, the main benefit of underfloor heating is that there are no unsightly radiators required in most instances. When covering over 80% of the floor with electric heating, the heating can be used as a sole source of heating. As a sole source of heating, we recommend that a 200w system with insulation be installed.
Electric heating can be also used as a comfort heat source or to take the cold chill off the floor, when installed in certain areas where you would like a warm floor, however, would work alongside other forms of heating in this instance.Technical Support, Fitting and Warranty Information
